Terms of use

Version 1 · Last updated: 1 November 2026

The German version is legally binding; this is a translation.

1. Provider and scope

The RunBrella app is offered free of charge by David Büchel, Graf-Geßler-Straße 2, 50679 Köln ("we") as a private individual. These terms govern the use of the app and its services.

2. Minimum age and account

You must be at least 18 years old. One account per person. Your details must be true; you can set your gender only once. Keep your login details secret.

3. What RunBrella is – and is not

RunBrella helps you find people to run with. We do not organise runs and are not a party to arrangements between members. Taking part in a run is voluntary and at your own responsibility. Mind your health, the weather and traffic, and stop a run if you feel unwell or unsafe.

4. Verification and women-only runs

You can host and join runs only after your identity is confirmed. Women-only runs are open only to verified women. Verification improves safety but does not guarantee how others behave.

5. Booking a running companion

Members can offer to run with others ("running companion"), free of charge or for a price of up to €15 per run. To offer this you need a confirmed identity, an approved profile photo and at least three completed runs without reported problems; every offer is checked by our moderation before it is published.

A booking is an agreement solely between you and the companion. RunBrella only puts you in touch and provides the technical features (request, confirmation, chat); we are not a party to that agreement, do not owe the run and are not the companions' employer. Companions act on their own responsibility and are themselves responsible for any tax obligations on their income.

Paid bookings are not possible yet. Once they are introduced, payment runs through a payment service provider and RunBrella receives an intermediary commission that is deducted from the listed price (bookers pay exactly the price shown). We will tell you the exact terms, fees and cancellation rules beforehand, update these terms accordingly and ask for your consent.

Either side can cancel a booking until it starts; the other side is notified. Meet in public places and stop a run if you feel uncomfortable. You can report misconduct in the chat or to moderation.

6. Code of conduct

7. Moderation and suspension

We review reports and profile photos. If rules are broken we may remove content, restrict features or suspend accounts temporarily or permanently. Serious incidents may have to be passed on to the authorities.

8. Your content

Content you post (e.g. run descriptions, profile photo) remains yours. You grant us a simple, free right to display it within the app while it is stored.

9. Availability

We aim for uninterrupted operation but cannot guarantee it. Features may change or be discontinued.

10. Liability

We are fully liable for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health caused by our fault. Otherwise we are liable only for breach of essential obligations, limited to foreseeable damage. We are not liable for the conduct of other members or for events at runs we are not involved in.

11. Termination

You can delete your account in the app at any time (Settings → Delete account). We may end your use for good cause.

12. Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we will ask for your consent again in the app. Without it you can no longer host or join runs.

13. Final provisions

German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Questions: info@runbrella.de.
